About the show
One brings the research. One brings the questions.
Wellness for Nerds started as a panel about performing at a high level without losing your peace. It turned into a weekly conversation: what the science actually says, what it feels like in a real life, and what you do with it on a Monday.

Dr Rebecca Chabot
The scientist
- What she brings
- The research, the rigour, and the ability to make it make sense. A PhD in quantitative ecology from the University of Tasmania, an MSc in biology, a BSc in biochemistry, and nearly three decades teaching mindfulness, breathwork, meditation and yoga across Australia, North America, India and Indonesia. Keynote speaker, including TEDx Hobart.
- What makes her curious
- The gap between what the evidence shows and what people actually do at six in the morning.
- Why this conversation
- Because “my brain is too busy” is either a reason or a cop-out, and she would rather find out than assume.

David Masterton
The guy
- What he brings
- Questions, gut reactions, occasional tangents, and yes, the dad jokes. Founder of 158 Lab in Hobart, recovering from 25 years of being a corporate performer, unmedicated ADHDer and single dad.
- What makes him curious
- How do I do this authentically?
- Why this conversation
- A self discovery journey took him from a self confessed logic chaser with narcissistic traits running from emotions, to being curious as what it means to have a deeply authentic human experience, tears and all. Now bringing this to all parts of his life.
How we do the show
Evidence matters
If a claim cannot be traced to research, we say so on air. No woo, no supplements, no affiliate links.
Uncertainty is welcome
“We don’t know yet” is a complete answer. We would rather be honest than tidy.
Experience is not data
David’s lived experience is real and useful. It is also one person. We keep the two clearly labelled.
Rebecca is a PhD scientist, not a medical practitioner. Wellness for Nerds shares general information and personal experience. It is not individual medical or mental-health advice.
